Chevy S10 for Sale by Owner was planned in the ’80s because the oil and energy crises. Before the S10, Chevrolet has compact truck was the Chevrolet LUV. LUV stood for Light Utility Vehicle, and it was a rebadged version of the Isuzu KB truck.

1st Generation Chevy S10 For Sale By Owner

The primary generation of the Chevy S10 truck lasted from the 1982-1993. It was smaller, lighter, and had a lower height. It was larger and heavier than the LUV. The Chevy S10 truck has various models.

For 1982, there have been two engine choices, however 2WD was the sole available. Beginning in 1983, FWD became available as an extended cab option. Chevy introduced new engines with a diesel option.

1st Gen Packages

From 1988-1991, Chevrolet offered a package that referred to as the S-10 Baja. The quality S10s got updated nearly each year, with minor additions being made to the grille, headlights, and side-moldings, and sunroofs were made in later years.

The S-10 Baja option has a roll bar with cross-country lights, a front cannular grille guard, a tubular rear bumper, transfer case shield, front differential shield, fuel tank shield, oil steering shields, a suspension package, windscreen banner, etc.

The second generation arrived in 1994 till 2004, and they increase interior, performance, and exterior styling with higher aerodynamics. Chevy offers a diagonal hood, larger windows, and a new LS trim.

Chevy had added anti-lock brakes for all four wheels and modified the shifter. Just one engine from the primary generation was carried, and most of the new ones were more powerful. Chevy created air-conditioning on all models and introduced driver’s airbags for safety.

The second gen had many packages. The highest option was the SS package, including a limited-slip differential, more powerful engine, lowered suspension, larger wheels, and visual enhancements. The S10 SS lasted from 1994-1998, and Chevy replaced it with the S10 Xtreme package.

Chevy had the ZR2 cross-country Package and ZR-5 Sport Package. The ZR-5 package has larger crew cab models with blacked bumpers, lighter metallic element. The ZR2 package has larger tires, beefed up suspension, and a protection differential.

In 1998, Chevy updated the interior and exterior with modified the grille, headlights, front bumper, instrument cluster, and seats. In 2001, Chevy introduced the larger crew cab with upgraded stereo, power windows and keyless entry, furthermore as animal skin seats.

The Electrical Truck Chevy S10 For Sale By Owner

The strangest variants were the S10EV Pickup from 1997-’98. The truck was a real electric vehicle, not a hybrid. Under the hood was an 85-kilowatt three-phase, liquid-cooled AC induction motor for 114 hp.

The distinction was the EV Chevy S10 for Sale by Owner use FWD. For 1997, the S10EV used a lead acid battery, but in 1998 a lighter nickel–metal battery was an option. There have been five hundred S10Evs factory-made in total, but mostly sold to corporation and the government.
